It is interesting that the message of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” seems to be that faith is everything, and that in the end it will defeat the corrupting influence of consumerism.

However, in “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” Linus, the one child who professes faith (albeit in a Great Pumpkin) is left to freeze in the pumpkin patch, while all of the trick or treaters,  i.e., CONSUMERS, have a great time and end up SAVING him.

So, per Charles M. Schultz: Christian god > Consumerism > Pagan Deities

“All I got was a rock … upon which I shall build my church”
